Compulsory Care for Children and Young People (LVU)
Primarily, children and young people who are struggling can receive help and support through various measures at home or in school. However, sometimes the Social services do not consider the available measures, such as family therapy, to be sufficient. Sometimes the Social services and the parents have opinions on what is best for the child/youth. In such cases, the question of compulsory care may arise. Sometimes this involves placing children in institutions, while other times it may be in foster homes or family homes. Often, parents and/or the youth may disagree on the need for care or the care plan.
